Cox Automotive’s August inventory report, published September 10, counted 2.68 million available new vehicles and 73 days of supply. It described overall supply as adequate, while lower-priced vehicles remained more constrained.
Vehicles priced at $30,000 or less had 54 days of supply, compared with more than 90 days for vehicles over $60,000. Brand-level differences were also substantial. These are August national figures, not today’s inventory at a local dealership, and they do not establish a shortage of every model.
