What it is
Title and registration fees are government charges set by your state DMV (or county tax office). On a dealer sale the store typically collects those amounts from you and remits them when it files the title/registration. Separately, many dealers also charge a documentation, electronic-filing, messenger, or temporary-tag processing fee for doing that paperwork. Those dealer service charges are not the same as the state's title or plate fee even when they appear on the same worksheet section. Ask the dealer to show the government fee total and the dealer paperwork fee as separate lines, and compare the government portion to your state's published fee schedule. Exact dollar amounts belong only on state-specific entries sourced from official schedules.
